Service Cuts

Marc Laliberte, President and Chief Executive Officer of VIA Rail Canada on June 27 announced a reduction in the service of its trains during the week and other services are reduced to achieve increase budget. It has also announced the cut of 200 jobs which is about the nine percent of its total work force. The trip frequencies are also being cut on some of big routes including Montreal to Halifax line. It is also announced that there will be number of reductions in south west Ontario where GO transit and other services are available to travellers London , Aldershot, kitchener ,niagara Falls and other cities will also face reduction in via service.

    I have also read in news that the services are shortened by via rail as they want to earn more profit by using budget methods.This can be a good step for via rail to increase profits.
